PROJECT
Spokane, WA
Spokane County Wastewater Facility
Project Summary
The Spokane County Regional Water Reclamation Facility (SCRWRF) was built to protect the Spokane Aquifer from septic-tank pollutants, thereby protecting the source of drinking water for the 500,000 residents of Spokane and Kootenai Counties. At the time it was built, this project achieved the lowest pollution levels of any plant in the United States, due to the innovative membrane treatment process that purifies wastewater to the point it is safely discharged back into the Spokane River. Bio-solids are processed to the point that they are hauled off-site and made into compost. The plant was built with an eye toward the future and can be expanded to three times its current size as the Inland Northwest’s population continues to grow. This was a complicated job that required a lot of design-assist and creative problem solving as we, and the other contractors on this project, built something that had never been done before.
